The Slow Decay and Ruin Of Retail Loss Prevention

As many of you know I have spent over 20 years working at least part time in the retail loss prevention industry in addition to the many other hats I wear. Since 2010 if not earlier, retailers have subjected their Loss Prevention (LP) Staffs to downsizing, removal of responsibilities and stripping the ability to marginalize theft in the retail environment.
Over the next few weeks I will be sharing some thoughts, ideas and telling some stories regarding my time in LP. Most of it is going to be brutally honest and few retailers are going to end up shitting their pants after I let a few cats out of the bag.
To the general public though, do not feel bad or get angry when you see stories of large scale retail theft or police departments attempting to identify suspects. At least don't be mad at the grunts in the trenches trying to stop it.
Be pissed at LP Management on all levels. Further be pissed the further up the ladder in management you go clear to the VP's. The people that spent no real quality time in the streets. The people that have college degrees from high profile colleges with no real investigative experience.
People like me were warning them over 15 years ago, this day was coming and they chose not to listen. They thought all the training manuals they read knew more. They thought all the classes and professional workshops to be politicians in the work place would help them. They put the wrong people in positions to make decisions. They fell asleep at the wheel and ignored the people that did know what they were talking about and now all of our price points are through the roof to offset all the theft and shrink that is occurring.
Those are the dullards to be pissed at.
I am hoping I will have Part One: The Old Republic, out by January 12, 2023. Until then shop safely.
